Big 5 on Spa 2014 – Five One-77’s!

The BIG5 track day at Spa Franchorchamps is one of the most popular BIG5 events, so participants are distributed are two days, the Monday and the Tuesday. I was driving on the Monday. However, during my track-day, I heard that there would be 4 One-77’s participating on Tuesday, maybe even 5! So on Tuesday, before I drove home to Amsterdam, I went back to the track, to see if I could snap some pics of the One-77’s. I was able to make some quick photo’s in the pit lane, but did not have enough time to make real work of it. Luckily, my friends Alexander van Boekholdt en Paulien Aerts were there the entire day AND were so friendly to allow me to use some of their great photos. Thank you!

Centenary Parade – the head of the pack

Driving in the Aston Martin Centenary Parade at the Nordschleife was a unique and exciting experience. Hopefully you were able to catch some of that excitement from the parade photos and the parade video, both shot by my wife, riding with me in the V12 Vantage Roadster. However, driving in the parade myself did mean I wasn’t able to take pictures of most of the other cars in the parade. And boy oh boy, there were some interesting cars (and drivers!) participating, especially at the head of the pack. Luckily, I have just received a large batch of photos taken by other photographers from the side of the track, most in the famous Nordschleife Carousel corner. Here’s a selection of those photos. Centenary Dinner at the Park Lane Hilton

Last Tuesday, on the exact day of Aston Martin’s 100-year anniversary, a Centenary Dinner was organized at the Hilton Park Lanel hotel in London. 800 guests were invited for champagne, food and alas, the obligatory speeches. Having been a good boy during Aston’s first 100 years, I was invited to join the party. Here’s some pictures of the event and, of course, of the Astons that were present.

Over 80 Astons at Spa Francorchamps

The Big 5 is Aston Martin’s yearly series of 5 “experience” events. It includes three track days (at Silverstone, the Nürburgring and Spa-Francorchamps) and two driving-experience days (one at the Boxberg test center and one on-ice event in St. Moritz). This Monday (September 17) the fifth Big 5 event was held: the track day at Spa-Francorchamps. Over eighty Aston Martins came to this historic race-track in Belgium. 66 Aston owners taking their own car to the track, others renting a factory car for the day.

“POWER BEAUTY SOUL” Tour visits 27 Aston Martin dealers in nine countries

Aston Martin HQ has announced the ‘Power Beauty Soul‘ tour. The three new and existing models, the Vanquish, V12 Zagato and the V12 Vantage Roadster, embark on a tour to selected locations across Europe. The trio will visit 27 Aston dealerships in nine countries, either in the Aston’ showroom or at selected locations. Aston Martin customers will be invited to these exclusive events to goggle the beauties up close.

The ONE-77 Collection

We received a very thick envelope from Aston Martin HQ in Gaydon. In it we found The ONE-77 Collection brochure. From the cover letter: “The ONE-77 is the ultimate expression of Aston Martin and to celebrate this amazing car, we have selected a small number of luxury partners to produce a collection of beautifully crafted pieces. From stunning jewelry to hand crafted silverware, each exclusive product is limited to only 77 pieces and just like the ONE-77, is destined to become a collector’s item in its own right.” If you missed out on getting the real deal, this may be your chance to own an exquisite ONE-77 creation. I’ve highlighted a couple of must-haves from the brochure, prices on request so I can only guess!
