I love driving my V12 Vantage on the track. And I am proud to say, I’m slowly getting better at it too 🙂 Last week at the BIG 5 track event, I was able to do about 40 laps around my favorite circuit, Spa Franchorchamps. Here’s one of my laps, filmed by my friend Mark with his phone while in the passenger seat. It’s a bit shaky, but I think it gives a good impression of what it’s like to drive a V12 Vantage around this beautiful track. Enjoy:
WARNING: this article may contain pictures of non-Aston cars. Proceed at your own risk! Last week, we found that famous automotive photographer Gijs Spierings was looking for some super cars for a photo shoot on Saturday. Strangely enough, we didn’t have a car event planned that day yet :-), so we agreed to bring our red V12 Vantage to the shoot.
Last week I participated in first Aston Martin BIG 5 event for this year, the track day at the Nürburgring GP Strecke. (have you seen my pit lane photos of the day?). Now here is a video I shot from the dash of my V12 Vantage while doing a lap of the GP Strecke, chasing the instructor’s Vanquish Volante:
Car photographers Pascal Protze and Joris Kretzers spotted this white monster close to the Nürburgring. It looks like a GT4 version of the V12 Vantage, but then again… is the V12 Vantage GT4 street legal? Whatever it is, it does look pretty brutal!
Every year in June, the dutch Aston Martin club Power Beauty Soulmates goes on a week-long trip to a beautiful location in Europe. Preferably a place with lots of beautiful roads for us to drive. Previous trips took us to Le Mans, Isle of Man, the italian Dolomites and last year to Scotland. This year, we will go to Biarritz, France, a perfect starting location for nice routes in the French and Spanish Pyrenees. So last week, my friend Eduard and I spent 4 days in Biarritz, to plan the routes and to scout lunch and diner locations. It’s a dirty job, but someone’s gotta do it 🙂
Lots of car events last weekend. First the Shmeeting in Amsterdam, then later that Friday the introduction of the new Porsche Macan at the Porsche dealership (won’t bother you with that one 🙂 ) and then on Saturday the 2014 edition of the Spring Event.
The “BZT show” is a Dutch television program that makes kids’ dreams come true. We were asked to come to the studios with some nice cars, to make one super-car loving boy very happy. Of course we will. So off to Hilversum we went, bringing two V12 Vantages, together with our friends from JD Customs, who brought two very nice Ferrari’s.
In this third part of my Customizing series, we’re making a change to the rear of the car, replacing the rear lamps with red ones and adding carbon inlays from The V-Collection.
In part two of the “Customizing my V12 Vantage” series, we’re going to look at the first de-chroming I did: blackening out the window trim. This was done by wrapping the original chrome window sills with thin black foil, without even removing them first. Before: After:
If you’re a car nut, you’re sure to know and follow Shmee150’s YouTube channel, blog and/or Facebook page. In the past few weeks, Tim (aka Shmee150) had been dropping hints that could indicate he might be buying a new car, trading in his Audi R8 V10 Spyder. So last Friday, when Shmee150 posted a picture on Facebook of the Aston Martin dealership in Leeds, UK with a shiny white V12 Vantage in the window, everyone immediately concluded that he was going to buy an Aston Martin. But it turned out he wasn’t. His dad was!
