Over 80 Astons at Spa Francorchamps

The Big 5 is Aston Martin’s yearly series of 5 “experience” events. It includes three track days (at Silverstone, the Nürburgring and Spa-Francorchamps) and two driving-experience days (one at the Boxberg test center and one on-ice event in St. Moritz). This Monday (September 17) the fifth Big 5 event was held: the track day at Spa-Francorchamps. Over eighty Aston Martins came to this historic race-track in Belgium. 66 Aston owners taking their own car to the track, others renting a factory car for the day.

Monday next week, on September 17, the 4th event in the Big 5 series will be held at the famous Spa-Francorchamps track in Belgium. 66 Aston Martin owners will get the chance to hone their skills on the track, most in their own Aston, some in hired factory cars.

V12 Vantage in EA booth at Gamescom

Two of my favorite hobbies (astons and video games) combined! An Aston Martin V12 Vantage appeared at the Gamescon video games fair in Cologne. It was present at the booth of Electronic Arts, to promote their upcoming new NFS Most Wanted game (the 3.275th edition in the Need for Speed series).

A baby blue Vanquish at Pebble Beach

The New Aston Martin Vanquish is one of the cars displayed at the Aston Martin Estate for the Pebble Beach Automotive Week 2012. The other model is the V12 Vantage in red, IMO, the best color for this amazing car.

Ten Astons at “Power Beauty Soulmates” meeting in the Netherlands

At yesterday’s Power Beauty Soulmates club meeting, 10 Aston Martin’s showed up for a nice tour in the eastern part of the Netherlands (PBSM is a dutch Aston Martin club).

Carbon fibre upgrades for my beauties

This week I gave my British beauties a nice cosmetic upgrade with some extra carbon fibre goodies. On both my Vantage S Roadster and my V12 Vantage the regular chrome side strakes have been replaced with carbon fibre side strakes. On top of that, the V12 Vantage was fitted with a carbon fibre gearshift surround, again replacing the regular chrome unit.

Meeting the maker: Barry Griffin

One cool thing I like about Aston Martins is the small plaque under the bonnet that says: HAND BUILT IN ENGLAND FINAL INSPECTION BY followed by the name of the “final inspector. My first Aston (a V8 Vantage Roadster) was inspected by SIMON WARD. The plaque in my current V8 Vantage S Roaster says PAUL GODDARD. But the final inspector of my favorite car, my V12 Vantage, is BARRY GRIFFIN.
