The Aston Martin’s and Lagonda’s at the Interclassics & Topmobiel fair

This weekend I visited the 2014 edition of the yearly Interclassics & Topmobiel fair in Maastricht, the Netherlands. Last year’s edition was the best year for Aston Martin fans, because it celebrated AM’s 100 year anniversary. But still, lots of Aston Martin’s to find this year. Here’s some photos I took during the event. A couple of Lagonda’s from the pre-Aston Martin days, several beautiful classic Aston and two modern ones.

The Power Beauty Soulmates in Zwolle

This weekend, the Power Beauty Soulmates (a dutch Aston Martin club) visited Zwolle, to have dinner at the famous 3-star restaurant De Librije. Because of the nice weather, the amount of members that actually arrived in their Astons in this time of the year was surprisingly high. Here’s some quick photos I took of the Astons present:

Aston Martin Elfstedentocht

This weekend’s Sunday Drive of the Dutch PBSM Club was a special one, as two members had organized the “Aston Martin Elfstedentocht”. For the non-dutchies among us: the Elfstedentocht is a 200 kilometer long ice skating tour leading past 11 cities in the northern part of the Netherlands. The Aston Martin edition of this “eleven cities tour” had to use the roads instead of the canals and rivers, so it was slightly longer, 230 kilometers, and including the trip to and from the hotel came to just over 320 KMs, for most part over winding B-roads.

Red and Blue at the Droomrit

Yesterday, just like last year, my wife and I participated in the the Droomrit voor het Leven event, a charity event for children with serious health problems. My wife driving our Cobalt Blue V12 Vantage Roadster, while I drove our Fire Red V12 Vantage.

15 Astons at the August Sunday Drive

Yesterday it was the first Sunday of an “even” month again, which means: Sunday Drive!

Rally to London – Day 4: From Lille (FR) to London (UK), via Cocove Castle (FR)

The final day, the final stretch to London, with the full group of (well over) 100 rally cars. Not a lot of kilometers to cover today, but still an interesting trip, as we crossed the channel to the UK, and then drove into the city of London, right into the very center.

Rally to London – Day 3: From Mainz (DE) to Lille (FR), via Nürburgring (DE)

Still rallying to London! The group is getting bigger. Today another 15 or 20 cars joined, first some at the Hyatt hotel in Mainz, then later at the AM Test Center at the Nürburgring. We’re now driving around with roughly 100 cars, so you can imagine the chaos wherever we go 🙂

Rally to London – Day 2: From Konstanz to Mainz (DE), via Schloss Weitenburg

The second day of the Rally to London, on which we drive from Konstanz to Mainz, with a checkpoint and lunch in Schloss Weitenburg.

Rally to London – Day 1: From Como (IT) to Konstanz (DE), via St. Moritz (CH)

The rally has started! We have completed Day 1 of the Rally to London, 500 kilometers, and are now actually getting (a bit) closer to London. And what a day it was… beautiful locations, a fantastic route, amazing weather and over fifty wonderful Britisch machines 🙂

Rally to London – Day “Zero” : Basel to Saronno, via St. Gotthard

Another 300 kilometers completed. And still not any closer to London 🙂 But today’s route was wonderful, cruising through Switzerland, taking the long route over the St. Gotthard pass, as opposed to going through the tunnel. Then a short stretch in Italy, to Saronno, which is halfway between Milan and Como. Perfectly situated to get to the starting point of the Rally in Como early tomorrow morning.
